James Trafford will be England's goalkeeper for the match against Czechia in Prague on Tuesday. Manager Thomas Tuchel made this choice even though the Leeds player let in three goals during the loss to Spain last Friday.
Tuchel stated, "James Trafford will get the nod in goal for England once again, despite conceding three goals against Spain." He noted the 23-year-old will have a chance to play two matches while the injured Dean Henderson recovers from a thigh issue.
England lost their Nations League opening match at Wembley after giving up a second-half advantage. Harry Kane failed to score from a penalty when his team was ahead, which became important as Spain came back to win. This was England's first competitive game since leading their World Cup qualifying group. Their defense has been conceding goals recently.
Tuchel needs to fix these defensive problems. Marc Guehi and Nico O'Reilly made mistakes that led to two Spanish goals, and Lewis Hall could play at left-back after a slight injury concern kept him out. Trent Alexander-Arnold hopes to start in a game where England should control the ball.
In attack, Harry Kane aims to play better. The skipper has a strong scoring record under Tuchel, and Jude Bellingham continues to be important for creating chances, contributing to several goals lately. Bellingham leads England in scoring this season.
Czechia also began their Nations League campaign with a loss, at home to Croatia. Adam Karabec, who scored for them, may not play after hurting his hamstring. Ex-West Ham player Vladimir Coufal will lead the team, and Newcastle's Lukas Hornicek is likely to be in goal.
The game begins at 7.45pm BST at the Fortuna Arena and will be broadcast live on ITV1 in the UK. It is the first of two matches between these teams this month. Supporters can see the complete schedule on our fixtures page and the team list on our squad page.
