England national football team is set to face Costa Rica in a friendly match at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The match is a final friendly before the Three Lions begin their World Cup campaign. England has been consistent in their North American World Cup qualifiers, winning six matches in a row and securing qualification without conceding a single goal. The German's final 26-man squad also drew attention because of some big omissions, including Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. With plenty of attention on them, England will be hoping to redeem past tournament failures and make a deep run in the tournament. They are placed in Group L alongside Croatia, Ghana, and Panama and will play their first match on June 17. Costa Rica, meanwhile, arrive in a very different situation. They qualified for the 2014, 2018, and 2022 World Cups, but failed to reach the 2026 edition and are currently in a transition phase, trying to rebuild their squad. They are coming into this match after a 3-1 defeat against Colombia. Defensive issues have been plenty, with the team conceding 11 goals across their last five matches. This will be only the third meeting between England and Costa Rica with their last competitive clash ending 0-0 at the 2014 World Cup, while England won 2-0 in a 2018 friendly.
